From early times, Saint-Petersburg,
one of the world best known cities, has been regarded as Russia's western gateway. Its
beauty and unique charm has enthralled everybody from the poets and artists for whom it
was built to the constant flow of tourists who now visit. A veritable gem of Russia,
located on forty two islands by the Finnish Gulf, Saint Petersburg was brought into being
by architects of international acclaim such as Tresini, Rastrelli, Rossi, Quarenghi, and
many others. The city's majestic architectural ensembles and the poignant romance of its
embankments and bridges have earned the city the alias - "Venice of the North".
Saint Petersburg is linked to the West by numerous sea and air routes and
a well developed network of railways and motorways. First conceived by Peter I as a
"Window" to the rest of Europe. The city is now in the process of reclaiming
back its historic role as a link between the East and the West.
To cheek out the vast Russian market and demonstrate your abilities and
products, we propose cooperation with Mikhailovsky Manege, St Petersburg's top exhibition
venue. Millions of consumers will become aware of your products, and your projects will
secure a new level of trust with the business community both in Russia and abroad.
Vincenzo Brenna's brilliant masterpiece - Mikhailovsky - Manege
forms a part of the ensemble of Mikhailovsky Castle, sited in the historic
center of St Petersburg, close to Nevsky Prospect. This ensemble was
built for Russian tzar Pavel. According to a legend, the Castle's construction
was ordained by the Archangel Michael himself, who had singled out the
site as the best-suited for new Royal habitation. In addition to the
palace, a church, dedicated to the Archangel Michael and the Manege
were also built. The 160-meter long and 35,7-meter wide Manege Building
came to be the ensemble's most prominent edifice. The enormous space
within gets excellent natural lighting through the 54 high windows topped
off with semicircles. After its reconstruction masterminded by K.Rossi,
the ensemble came to form an integral whole with the Stables building,
the Manege Square and the adjacent city blocks. The sweeping renovation
and restoration carried out in 1995 has imbued Mikhailovsky Manage with
new life. It is now a comfortable fully-fitted facility for running
major international events. Its unique historic location, the resplendence
of its old architecture fashioned by world-renowned name architects,
