St. Petersburg 18th February 2011 a year workshop for travel trade visitors in St. Petersburg has celebrated 20-years old.
INTOURFEST 2011 has celebrated 20-years old
INTOURFEST was held at a new venue - in PETROCONGRESS Conference and Business Centre that perfectly meets modern requirements of MICE industry. The expositions occupied the first floor and business events were held on the second floor. The event was attended by 724 travel trade visitors.
The INTOURFEST is unique for it is an integrated event of expositions and various business events that allows creating a complex product aimed at developing travel and hospitality industries in St. Petersburg.
The exposition was represented by 59 firms: companies of travel and hospitality industries, foreign and Russian travel companies, resorts, hotels, transport companies, museums, educational institutions, trade press and e-Media.
Foreign participants represented travel industry of Belorussia and Finland.
An individual exposition at the workshop was devoted to tourism potential of the Leningrad Region: municipal areas, tourist information centers, guest houses and travel companies presented opportunities of the Leningrad Region and its districts.
The event was attended by 724 travel trade visitors.
More than 110 visitors attended business-programme, which was represented by following master classes and training seminars: “Mini-hotels. Experience by St. Petersburg” (with post-tour which included visiting the most important hotels oÁ St. Petersburg), “Social Media in promoting tourism services” and other, which were held by the leading industry experts.
An open presentation area for business program events was organised. All guests of the exhibition could easily visit presentation “Info-port” for tour agent: fair way to earn”, which was organized by “Info-port System” and other presentations.
A wide response among the travel trade visitors was drawn by Dmitrij Ivanov’s and Lilia Bitkulova’s master class. The most current problems that tour operators and tour agents face every day were discussed at the seminar: types of contracts, agents' activities, legal implications, tour agent and tour operator responsibility, court practice, insured events, payments and refusals cases, checks and test purchases in travel companies, practice of using the changed legislation, etc.
All visitors noticed that it was very informative, post–tour during which was visited such hotels as Park Inn at Goncharnaya str. and Cronwell at Stremyannaya str. was a great practical bonus to theoretical part of seminar.
Master class was highly estimated by trade visitors: Zhanna Sargsyan, general director Shelfort’s hotel “I’ve listened to Lilia not for the first time, but I discovered new nuances in our field of business”.
Another event that aroused a great interest of the travel trade visitors was the seminar Social Media in promoting tourism services that was drawn by Alexey Sulimov. The influence of social networks on modern life is obvious, and that is why many travel and tourism companies pay more attention to promoting the company via Internet and via social networks as well.
During this seminar such important questions in tourism services promoting were discussed and practical advices were given: such as what to choose; Twitter and geoinformation services; blogs – opinions and recommendations as a way of image forming, b2b and b2c segments.
