On October 19-21, 2010 St. Petersburg hosted international specialised exhibitions TEKHNODREV and TRANSLES within the framework of the 12th St. Petersburg International Forestry Forum. The Forum was organised by RESTECR Exhibition Company supported by the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North-Western Federal District, Federal Forestry Agency of the Russian Federation, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, Leningrad region Government, Leningrad region Chamber of Commerce and Industry, trade associations and unions.

The exhibitions' official opening ceremony was attended by: Mikhail Federov, Head, Forestry Department of the North-Western Federal District; Vladimir Chuiko, Board Chairman, CEO, Bumprom RAO; Franz-Josef B�tfering, President, EUMABOIS (European Federation of Manufacturers of machines and accessories for woodworking). They emphasized importance and the timely character of the exhibitions on machinery, equipment and tools for Russian forestry enterprises in their welcome speeches to participants and exhibitors.

Leading manufacturers and suppliers exhibited machinery, equipment and tools for woodworking, furniture and biofuel industries, among them: KAMI corporation, MDM-Tehno, Felder Rus, Weinig, Dry Master SRL (Italy), Muhlbock-Vanicek (Austria), Polytechnik Luft (Austria), Kotelnicheskiy mechanical plant OJSC, PL-Tehno, Kotloservice LLC, UTEK LLC, SAB, TTS Tooltechnik Systems LLC, Forest, ATM North-West LLC, SPRINGER Maschinenfabrik AG, Swedex SPB, Spanevello SRL, Faeton, Negotiant-Engineering Trading Company, John Deere Forestry JSC, Leningrad region Chamber of Commerce and Industry, etc.

The total number of our exhibitors exceeded 70 companies from Russia, Germany, Belarus, Austria, Italy and Lithuania. The total number of visitors amounted to 2,517 representing Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. This year St. Petersburg International Forestry Forum and TEKHNODREV exhibition featured a presentation and the official opening of KAMI-Neva, a representative office of KAMI in the North-Western Federal District.

For the first time on 20th October the exhibitions' program included a prize draw organised with the support of the world leading chain saw manufacturer - STIHLR. The prizes were three professional MS chain saws (models 211, 181 and 180).

Matchmaking center services were traditionally available at the exhibitions' venue. In 2010 for the first time all the registered visitors could schedule and hold individual negotiations with representatives of regional delegations, government agencies, machinery and equipment consumers and forestry science representatives.

The rich business program of St. Petersburg International Forestry Forum was organised for participants and visitors of the exhibitions. The Forum program was started with the plenary session Modernisation of the forest industry as a major factor in its efficiency increase, participated by over 600 specialists.

Current problems of forestry personnel were discussed at the round table meeting: Forestry personnel organised with the support of St. Petersburg State Forest-Technical Academy. The round table session covered the following issues: forestry personnel and academic stuff according to the Russian Forestry Development Strategy to 2010 plan, Matching the curriculum to the market demand, Forestry technical education, Opportunities for young specialists at the modern market. The round table moderator: Aleksander Alekseev, Vice Rector of Education and International Relations, St. Petersburg State Forest-Technical Academy. The round table was attended by heads and recruitment specialists of leading international forestry enterprises (Mondi Syktyvkar OAO, Ilim Group and many others).

What way can you both efficiently dispose forestry wastes and gain? The answer to this question as well as to many others the Forum participants could get at the international conference: Biofuel production and utilasation in Russian and the world, organised jointly with National Bioenergy Union. The conference topics: European energy policy influence on the European pellet market future development, Opportunities of bio-energy development in the USA, Availability of forest biomass for energy production, Biofuel policy and experience in the EU countries (Germany and Sweden experience), Wooden pellets use issues and carbon market opportunities, The need to form a domestic biofuel market, International trade of biomass and renewable forest resources, Pellets manufacturing of various materials, Biofuel transporting and logistics schemes, Opportunities of joint projects under the Kyoto protocol, etc. The conference audience was presented successful biofuel projects implemented in Russia. The conference gathered over 150 participants, the moderator was Olga Rakitova, Kandidate of Economics, Executive Director, National Bio-Energy Union.

Issue of wooden housing construction shall be given much attention today so far there is a strong demand for comfort and convenient living that meets all the modern world requirements. The Forum included the conference: Main trends for wooden houses construction development in Russia. Technologies and design (official partner - the Prigorod magazine). The conference covered the following topics: Market indexes of wooden housing, Environmentally friendly housing development around the world, Low-rise houses construction in Leningrad region, Consumers preferences in choosing country economy class houses, Systems of house and village automation in the segment of elite real estate, Demand and supply for country housing market - modern requirements of country houses construction, Successful projects implemented in the period of demand drop, etc. The conference was moderated by Dmitriy Sinochkin, Chief editor, the Prigorod magazine.

The conference Wood boards production for construction and furniture industries was convened to enlighten woodworking issues. The discussion covered the following issues: Present state and perspectives of wood boards market, Wood boards competitiveness advancement, Economic and technical benefits of Russian chipboard plants upgrade, Fireproof chipboards manufacturing, Innovation as a base for wood board manufacturing technology development. Much attention was paid to the OSB market (general problems, success key factors, technical support planning, materials quality, products solutions, limiting factors of production and many others) and the birch veneer market (opportunities of cooperation with end consumers, strategies creation and effective use of competitive advantages, business motives of end consumers, creation of manufacture strategies for middle and long term periods, investments in production and personnel in respect to new product lines, initiation of client-oriented business) development. The conference moderator: Adolf Leonovich, Professor, Doctor of Engineering, St. Petersburg State Forest-Technical Academy.

The forum offsite program featured a business tour to Austria to Herz Energietechnik manufacture on 21-24 October, 2010. The tour included visiting manufacture premises and facilities, meetings with the company top management: CEO, development director and sales director, and attending existing energy supply facilities - biofuel boilers.

The 15th TEKHNODREV international specialised exhibition and the 8th TRANSLES international specialised exhibition will be held on October 4-6, 2011 in St. Petersburg within the framework of 13th St. Petersburg International Forestry Forum. The Organising Committee is planning to enrich visitor advertising campaign by attracting new audiences. The Golden Prize award ceremony will be organised and held under new rules and nominations applied to meet modern world standards. It is also planned to hold seminars and workshops for visitors and participants at the venue during the exhibition opening hours at which our exhibitors could p-resent reports and presentations of forestry current problems.

At the very first day visitors recognised the stand of KAMI as the brightest and most technically rich. Most popular machinery models, such as Beaver-520 a four edged machine and Beaver 25AVLT8 a milling machine with numerical control are live demonstrated there.
Visitors are always interested in edgebander conveyors and panel saws of Filato.
During first hour of our work at TEKHNODREV we managed to sign 4 agreements with enterprises of Leningrad region on supply of furniture manufacturing equipment.
KAMI-Neva has hold negotiations with over 100 clients, sold equipment and machinery for the total amount of over 2 mln. rubles and have signed memorandums of understanding for the amount of 4 mln. rubles.

Of cause, the number of exhibitors is not quite high, but there has been attracted many target visitors. In particular our stand was attended by over 300 trade visitors and manufacturers whishing to upgrade their woodworking equipment and machinery.

At TEKHNODREV we have exhibited the latest models of FESTOOL tools that strongly impressed everybody.
Special attention was given to screw guns and copying saws. All the exponents we presented left the exhibition with their new owners.

Khabarovsk International Fair and RESTEC® Exhibition Company invite you to participate in the leading forestry event of the main Russian forestry region. 3rd International Specialised Exhibition
Technologies, machinery, equipment and tools for forestry, woodworking and furniture industry

The 3rd International Specialised Exhibition TEKHNODREV Siberia 2009 was held in Siberia Exhibition Center on November 17-20, 2009.

The Exhibition gathered over 100 exhibitors from the US, Austria, Germany, Finland, Estonia, Italy, Turkey, Poland, Slovenia, China, Taiwan, as well as from the Russian regions.

Heavy duty (over 100 kW) woodworking equipment and harvesting machines at work representing the world forestry leaders were demonstrated at the Exhibition. Such companies, as John Deer, PONSSE, USTUNKARLI, SAB, EWD, LINK have participated in the Exhibition for the first time.
The exposition featured also machines of compact construction for joineries, machines working without electricity in the field, working cutters for solid wood, chipboard or MDF, and other technologies and equipment.

The official opening of the TEKHNODREX Siberia 2009 Exhibition was participated by Elena Vavilova, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Forest Sector of Krasnoyarsk Krai, Oleg Dzidzoev, President of the Union of Lumbermen of Krasnoyarsk Krai, Denis Bizekt, Head of the VDMA Woodworking Project, Igor Avdashkevich, Head of All-Russian Network of Woodworking Exhibitions TEKHNODREV of RESTEC® Exhibition Company, Victor Ogurtsov, Rector of Siberian State Technological University and Vitaly Ovinnikov, Director General of “KRASNOYARSK FAIR” Exhibition company.

According to Elena Vavilova, the year 2009 was considered as a crisis year for the Russian woodworking industry. "In the crisis context the Krasnoyarsk Krai Government has taken a series of complex measures to support woodworking enterprises of the Krai. 648 mln. rubles were invested to the industry and 98% of the sum was spent to support these enterprises. The results came soon. Decrease of the production volume of the Krai amounted to 40-50% in January-February, in April the decrease was at max 25%, and in September – 9% only. According to statistics, export volume has increased for the period of January - September. The crisis showed that woodworking enterprises strongly depend on the market dynamics unless they are technically upgraded. Therefore all the measures being developed by the Krai Government for 2010, will surely include technical upgrade of the Krai woodworking enterprises", – Elena Vavilova said.

TEKHNODREV Siberia 2009 featured the All-Russian conference Vectors of Siberian forestry development which gave an opportunity for the industry specialists to plan dominant development trends of Siberian forestry and to discuss energy forestry potential and financial mechanisms for the forestry sector.

Concurrently with TEKHNODREV there was opened Furniture Salon 2009 where modern furniture producers and suppliers exhibited the latest developments, decoration elements and expositions of complete interior scenes.

Leading designers of the Krasnoyarsk Krai told the Exhibition visitors about ways of making the house comfortable and beautiful, trends of combining different materials used to create an interior, and helped to choose furniture and interior palette. There was also organized a fair where woodworks made by inmates of labour colonies were sold.

TEKHNODREV, TRANSLES, REGIONS OF RUSSIA. FORESTRY COMPLEX POTENTIAL

On October 6-9, 2009 such International Specialised Exhibitions as Tekhnodrev, Transles, Regions of Russia. Forestry complex potential and IFEP – St.Petersburg Furniture and Interior Salon took place in St.Petersburg within the framework of the 11th St.Petersburg International Forestry Forum. The Event was organised by RESTECR Exhibition Company with the support of the Forestry Federal Agency of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Leningrad Region, the Leningrad Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

At the official opening ceremony the welcome speeches addressed to the participants and visitors of the Exhibitions were delivered by Serguei Shtrakhov, Head, Forestry Department in the North-West Federal District, Aleksander Stepchenko, Chairman, Nature Resources and Environmental Protection Committee of the Leningrad Region, Vladimir Onegin, Honorable President of St. Petersburg State Forest Technical Academy, Academician of Russian Academy of Natural Studies, Dmitroy Ivanov, General Director, Weinig group technical center for the North-West region, Serguei Trofimov, President, RESTEC Group. In the speeches they noted the importance of holding exhibitions on equipment, transport and technologies for forestry enterprises under the present economic conditions.

The business program was opened by the panel discussion Forest investment: myth or reality, organised in association with PricewaterhouseCoopers company. The central subjects of the discussion were: challenges which rose before forest industry during the crisis, stimulation of the domestic demand for forest goods, investment attraction to the industry, development of high-level milling and domestic consumption of forestry complex products. The conference Wood boards production (technological aspect) was devoted to the prospective market of wood boards. The partners of the conference were: St. Petersburg State Forest Technical Academy, German machine-building companies Siempelkamp Maschinen – und Anlagenbau and Dieffenbacher.

The issues of power saving and effective forestry complex waste utilisation take on a special significance under the present economic conditions. On October 7 the group of businessmen and officials from the Forum participants visited active biofuel boiler-houses in the town of Priozersk (the Leningrad Region) within the framework of the field seminar Model of a municipal power facility. During the excursion the participants of the trip saw the work of boiler-houses of different capacity, received experts' comments and participated in a round table concerning biofuel effective use, organised in association with Priozersk administration. The following questions were discussed: practical implementation of forestry complex bioenergy potential, use of alternative energy sources, problems and solutions regarding waste utilisation from forestry complex enterprises, advanced burning technologies, cogeneration, experience in implementation of projects on boiler-houses' transfer to solid fuel and their modernisation, issues of building and designing of fuel pellets plants.

In 2009 for the first time within the framework of the Event Business Program the experts were presented a cycle of practical seminars Forest Dialogue organised by Forestry Federal Agency. Within the framework of the cycle the following seminars took place: The system of timber inventory activities in the Russian Federation (presenters - Vladimir Kositsyn, Deputy Head of forest inventory, management and resource department and Vladimir Arkhipov, Director, Roslesinfo RG, Federal State Unitary Enterprise); Financing of forest management costs (presenter – Nikolay Petrunin, Head, Rosleshoz budget and finance department); The customs gives the green light (presenter – Valentina Koltsova, Chief state customs inspector, North-West department of the Federal Customs Service of Russia) and Accounting and statistics: the state cut timber inventory system (presenter - Vladimir Kondratyuk, General director, State forestry complex scientific centre).

The award ceremony of winners of the Golden Cutter contest was traditionally held within the framework of the Tekhnodrev Exhibition. The leading specialists and experts of St.Petersburg State Forestry Academy took part in the jury. The jury was headed by Vladimir Onegin, Doctor of Engineering Science, Rector of St.Petersburg State Forestry Academy, Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. The Golden Cutter Award is a sign of the recognition of achievements in the fields of equipment production and delivery, development and appliance of advanced woodworking technologies and is given for the best products and services in six nominations according to the highly qualified advisory committee's decision.

The following companies became prize winners of the Golden Cutter-2009. In the nomination Achievements in the Field of Sawmill Technique and Technologies: Grand Prix - Vigal CJSC, 1st degree certificate - Hekotek AS, 2nd degree certificate - SPRINGER Maschinenfabrik AG. In the nomination Achievements in the Field of Woodworking Technique and Technologies: Grand Prix - Stankowood Group, 1st degree certificate - Kami-Stankoagregat, 2nd degree certificate was shared by DRY Master SRL and Muhlbock Holztrocknungsanlagen GmbH. In the nomination Achievements in the field of furniture production technique and technologies: Grand prix - Faeton Ltd, 1st degree certificate - MDM-techno, 2nd degree certificate - Negoziant-Engineering Ltd.. Grand Prix in the nomination Achievements in the field of wood-cutting tools was awarded to Swedex SPb, 1st degree certificate - Ake Rus, 2nd degree certificate – Real. In the nomination A special contribution of a domestic manufacturer into wood industry development: Grand Prix - the Vologda Region, 1st degree certificate – Tekhnopark LTA, 2nd degree certificate - Innovation and Research Center Geos LLC. Territorial Production Plant Astek was awarded with Grand Prix in the nomination Success in the Development and Implementation of Environmentally Friendly Technologies, 1st degree certificate was awarded to INOS, 2nd degree certificates – Polytechnik Luft-und Feuerungstechnik and Nestro Lufttechnik GmbH.

The Matchmaking Center was functioning during the all days. 87 meetings with participation of more than 30 companies were held within the framework of the Center. Delegations from Russian regions were offered different variants of participation in the Matchmaking Center: organisation of personal schedule negotiations and holding of personal consultations with leading experts.

The negotiations were based on various subjects. In the section Woodworking and logging equipment delivery. Consultations on technologies and production process organisation the customers - the Ulyanovsk Region (Forest Resources Ltd.), the Krasnoyarsk Territory (Yenisei plywood mill Ltd.), the Zabaikalye Territory (Zabaikalye-1, Ltd., MUE Harangules), the Republic of Karelia (Association of Forest Users of the Priladozhye, Pomorye and Prionezhye) and the Leningrad region (International Paper CJSC, Svetogorsk PPM) held a number of meetings with the suppliers – BRUKS-KLOECKNER GmbH, Hyundai Corporation, Papcel SPb Ltd, Tekhnopark LTA CJSC and Rezoff Ltd.

The Association of Forest Users of the Priladozhye, Pomorye and Prionezhye held a number of meetings with the Leningrad Region enterprises on raw material supplies, among them such enterprises as – Metsäliitto Podporozhye Ltd, MM-Efimovskiy Ltd., International Paper (Svetogorsk PPM) CJSC. The participants noted convenience and efficiency of this service, in particular, time reduction for search for a partner and organisation of negotiations. The representatives of a logging company of the Novgorod Region (Rus-Pola Forestry Enterprise Ltd.) held a round of talks with the enterprises of the Leningrad Region.

Hyundai Corporation Company held a number of meetings on delivery of modern equipment from the leading South Korea manufacturers for fuel wood pellets production and construction equipment; turn-key construction of a plant for fuel wood pellets production. AltBiot (Krasnodar), Vologdabioexport Ltd. (St.Petersburg), �� Consulting Ltd. (St.Petersburg) took part in the negotiations.

In 2010 the Exhibitions Tekhnodrev, Transles, Regions of Russia. Forestry Complex Potential will be held on October 19-21 within the framework of the 12th St.Petersburg International Forestry Forum.

Forestry and timber processing complex exhibitions
within the framework of the International Forestry Forum

Annual forestry and timber processing complex exhibition program was held within the framework of the 10th Anniversary International Forestry Forum from October 7 to 10, 2008, in St.Petersburg: international specialized exhibitions Tekhnodrev, Wooden Construction, "Regions of Russia. Forestry Complex Investment Potential" exhibition and IPPTF Conference – improvements for the Pulp, Paper and Tissue Industry Conference (Co-organizer: Adforum AB).

The following organizations and entities provided support for the exhibitions: President Administration of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Government of St.Petersburg, Leningrad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as leading industry associations and unions.

During the official opening ceremony the following official persons addressed to the guests and participants of the exhibitions with welcome speeches: E.V. Lukyanov, The Plenipotentiary Envoy of the President of the Russian Federation in the Northwest Federal District, N.V. Komarova, Chairman of the Committee for Natural Resources, Nature Management and Ecology of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, V.E. Pozgalev, Governor of the Vologda Region, V.F. The exhibition was held in the exhibition hall and outdoor during four days presenting the whole range of services related to timber industry and timber building industry: the latest technologies and innovations for timber industry, machinery and equipment for woodworking and furniture industries, new wood construction technologies, all types of houses and buildings, timber transportation machinery, wood-road construction, new technologies for timber cargo logistics, forestry complex investment potential in Russia.

The International Specialized Exhibition TRANSLES repeatedly invites to participation the leading Russian and foreign timber market operators. The participants demonstrated the latest achievements, equipment and machinery samples in timber transportation industry. The exhibition organizers succeeded not only to keep the regular participants composition, but also attract new firms and companies, there are beginners in the industry as well. At the opening ceremony of the 3d Regions of Russia: Forestry Complex Investment Potential exhibition the increasing role of the regions in the Russian economic development was stressed as well as the necessity of the support and assistance for the first-priority regional investment projects. Such necessity is based on the fact that Russian timber industry as well as oil-and-gas industry should become one of the "driving belts of the Russian economy": it is tied with the comparability of the raw materials bases, and with the leading role of the Russian Federation regarding the majority of characteristics related to the forestry resources prosperity, and the number of personnel occupied in the industry. Very active part in the exhibition was taken by the Leningrad, Tver, Briansk, Tyumen, Vologda, Archangelsk regions, as well as Hanti-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Republic of Karelia, Udmurtia, Krasnodarskiy Kray and others.

Within the framework of the contest program held on October, the 9th, GOLDEN CUTTER Award was awarded to the prize-winners. This annual contest is the recognition of achievements of companies presenting their products and services on the market of woodworking and furniture industries.

Driada-2008 Award ceremony took part for the first time. This prize was awarded to the winners of the "Best innovation project in timber construction industry" contest.
The jury consisted of St.Petersburg State Forestry Academy's teaching staff, leading experts in the sphere of equipment and instruments for Furniture and Woodworking industry. The jury was headed by V.I. Onegin, Doctor of Engineering Science, Rector of St.Petersburg State Forestry Academy, Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.

GOLDEN CUTTER – 2008 Award was won by the following participants:

The winner of the Driada-2008 Award in the nomination 'Best innovation project in timber construction industry' is HAUS-KONZEPT Commonwealth company for the development and manufacturing of the large-span glued-laminated timber constructions.

The second prize was awarded to Technopark LTA ZAO for innovative project 'Timber thermal processing with the help of sulphate manufacturing by-product (tall oil)'
A Special Prize in the nomination 'A special contribution to the development and popularization of the wood construction industry' was awarded to Honka company - the world leader in wood construction industry.

The Prigorod magazine, the official informational partner of the contest, which actively covers actual problems of the wood construction industry in its pages was also awarded the diploma 'A special contribution to the development and popularization of the wood construction industry'.

Within the framework of the congress program the representatives of the forestry and timber industry complex discussed the national forestry policy of the Russian Federation, strategic vision and scenarios of long-term development of Russian forest sector till 2030, putting into operation a new tax law, and favourable conditions for the attractive investment climate in the industry.

The basic program of the Forum was opened by the Plenary Meeting Russia and world forestry community: new priorities of the forestry complex development. The following events also took place: Round table Regions of Russia. Forestry Complex Investment Potential, conferences Wooden house construction, Wood-based panel and veneer production and many others.

The Business Contacts Exchange worked in a new way within the frames of the business program of the Forum. Representatives of the regional delegations (Kurgan, Ulyanovsk, Tver, Chelyabinsk, Sahalin, Ryasan regions, Republic of Tiva, Krasnoyarskiy Kray) held a number of meetings with the managers of banks and investment companies and discussed investment questions related to forestry complex projects, negotiated to the representatives of the Canadian Business Association, got consultations of specialists in the wood-based panel manufacturing, frame-panel building, woodworking waste products utilization. Meeting of the heads of regional industry unions took place on October, the 9th. The meeting was aimed at the experience and knowledge exchange and processing of the common view at actual industry problems. 65 meetings were held at the Business Contacts Exchange.

More than 200 companies from North-West and Central regions, Volga, Ural and Siberia regions as well as from the near abroad and foreign countries: Germany, Finland, Sweden, Austria, Byelorussia, India, Italy, Canada, China, Latvia, Lithuania, France, Czech Republic, Switzerland presented their new technologies and equipment in forestry complex.
More than 14,000 forestry complex specialists from all regions of the Russian Federation visited the exhibition during the four days of its work.

On November 14 the solemn ceremony of closing of the 2nd International Specialised Exhibition TEKHNODREV Siberia 2008 organised by Krasnoyarskaya Yarmarka Exhibition Company in association with RESTECT Exhibition Company with support of the government of Krasnoyarsk Territory, Krasnoyarsk administration, and forest agency of Krasnoyarsk Territory was held at Sibir International Exhibition Show Centre of Krasnoyarsk.

The 2nd International Specialised Exhibition TEKHNODREV Siberia is the component of the general Russian network of timber exhibitions "TEKHNODREV", which gives the opportunity to the manufacturers and suppliers of equipment for the forestry complex to exhibit their products in all the regions of Russia. The exhibition is the leading project in lumber industry in Krasnoyarsk Territory, the largest "forest" region of our country by reserves and industrial milling, which gives the unique opportunity to exhibitors to come into the market, and to the visitor – to get familiarised with the latest technologies. The contemporary rise of forest and woodworking branches of industry of the Russian Federation has become a new impulse for mutually beneficial cooperation: exchange of experience, investment, promotion of innovations into the industry market.

The largest lumber exhibition in Siberia was held on the best exhibition site of the region – at Sibir International Exhibition Show Centre, meeting all world standards of technical and communication support.

Over 200 companies took place in the exhibition. Harvesting and woodworking equipment from Finland, Sweden, Germany, Austria, Italy, Slovenia, China, Taiwan was demonstrated at the exposition.

The priorities in TEKHNODREV Siberia 2008 are lumbering and primary woodworking. For the first time the representatives of Italian woodworking industry – Association of Italian Manufacturers of Equipment and Accessories for Woodworking (ACIMALL) jointly with the Institute of Foreign Trade of Italy (ICE) met with Russian partners in the framework of the TEKHNODREV SIBERIA 2008 Exhibition. The joint booth demonstrated 9 Italian brands: ARTIGLIO SPA, BASCHILD SRL, COSTA LEVIGATRICI S.P.A., GRIGGIO S.P.A., ORMAMACCHINE S.p.A., PAOLETTI SRL, SPANEVELLO SRL, STEMAS Srl, STORTI SPA.

Russia is one of the major markets for Italian woodworking equipment. In 2007 it's export to Russia was over 100 million euros.

The representatives of the joint booth consulted all wishing on new Italian equipment for woodworking industry, which is undoubtedly the leader in the world, by offering technical solutions for all stages of industrial process – from the simplest traditional machines to the latest production lines.

The industry Association of Woodworking Equipment (VDMA) also participated in the regional exhibition for the first time in the joint booth demonstrating 10 leading German companies: Baljer & Zembrod GmbH, Dieffenbacher GmbH, Esterer WD GmbH, HOLTEC GmbH, Homag GUS GmbH, Leitz GmbH, Linck Holzverarbeitungstechnik GmbH, SAB Sagewerksanlagen GmbH, Siempelkamp, Vecoplan AG.

As is known, the German manufacturers of woodworking equipment and tools are the recognised world leaders in all the spheres of woodworking. Thus, the visitors of the exhibition could obtain a wide range of services offered from the participants of the German exposition, including installation of special design machines, machines, tools, engineer-to-order for lumbering and manufacturing of chipboards, development of solution for complex tasks optimising costs and production technologies, etc.

Previous year Germany produced woodworking equipment for the amount of approximately 3.7 milliard euro, which is 27 percent of world trade.

The PONSSE Company's presentation aroused great interest of the visitors. The company is engaged in supplies of harvesting equipment. The PONSSE booth demonstrated an interactive site where everyone could try to be a woodcutter operating a big machine on the computer-based training facility.

For the first time in Krasnoyarsk DataScan Company demonstrated the latest technologies in the system of transparent accounting starting from forest to the transportation of logs to the treatment sites, which was based on the bar code system using tags, labels and stickers, which would allow the timbermen of Krasnoyarsk Territory to track disafforestation and further timber logging.

The representatives of Podyemnye Mashiny Company on their outside exposition of the exhibition centre demonstrated modern hydraulic manipulators for timber industry. A wide range of timber trucks, short log trucks, long log trucks, forwarders, harvesters and other special facilities and tools for lumber industry was demonstrated there.

Every year the Tekhnodrev Siberia Exhibition awards the exhibitors for introduction of advanced technologies into the development of timber industry of Krasnoyarsk Territory. The following exhibitors of Tekhnodrev Siberia 2008 were awarded medals of the Krasnoyarskaya Yarmarka Exhibition Company:

On November 11 a round table on "Sustainable Forest Management and Forest Certification in Siberia" was held. The participants of the round table were given the opportunity to learn about the latest changes in the field of utilisation of major systems of voluntary forest certification in Russia and in the world, to estimate the key peculiarities and advantages of certification under FSC system and Russian national system of forest certification. The moderator of the round table was Pavel Trushevsky, expert of the Association of environmentally-responsible timbermen of Siberia and FSC of Russia in the FSC-certified product markets, director of OOO "Lesnaya sertifikacia". The discussion marked out the main trends of development of voluntary forest certification process in Krasnoyarsk Territory and agreed the correlation of forces between the industrial authorities, certification authorities and timber companies.

On November 12 a conference "Wood Building in Siberia. Status and Trends of Development" was held in the framework of business programme of the TEKHNODREV Siberia Exhibition. The moderator of the conference was Alexander G. Chernykh, doctor of technical sciences, professor, academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, general director of NP "Association of Wood House Building". The speakers of the conference in their speeches covered the key subjects relating to major trends in the development of wood house building in Krasnoyarsk Territory, as well as discussed the existing experience of other regions of Russia in establishing house building factories, building of wood housing developments and introducing advanced technologies of wood house building at the factory level. During the conference the representatives of NP "Association of Wood House Building" and Siberian Federal University laid out the foundation for further collaboration in the field of training and advanced training of qualified personnel of Siberia and Far East, which is the urgent issue coped with by the managers of companies in this sector.

During the conference Vladimir Ponomarev, head of forest complex department of Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests of Krasnoyarsk Territory, told about the projects to be implemented in Krasnoyarsk Territory, "For the purpose of development we have approved the request for implementation of priority investment project in Minusinsk. That's where we plan to build a factory to produce OSB boards and to build wood structures. This project was prepared and included into the list of priority investment projects in the territory. The plant is to be launched in 2011," he explained.

On November 13 a seminar on "Subject Process Solutions for Harvesting and Woodworking Enterprises from the Leading Finland Timber Manufacturing Companies" was held in the framework of the exhibition. The speakers on the seminar were the representatives of the 5 Finnish companies. Mikko Vanhanen (HIAB) demonstrated to the audience hydraulic manipulators Loglift for loading of timber. Alexey Raschetnov, an employee of the Moscow representative office of Kalmar Industries, told about log loaders and forklift trucks for enterprises of pulp and paper industry and timber industry. The report by Viljo Mettala was dedicated to timber trucks fitted by Sisu Auto subject to the needs of every individual customer. Toivo Kukk and Alexey Krasikov represented in their reports new approaches to the treatment of timber and unique technological solutions developed by JARTEK Oy for woodcutting factories. Leo Malvasto told about the capacities of boiler installations offered by Wartsila Biopower Company for incineration of woodworking wastes for the purpose of producing of heat and electric energy.

The Furniture Salon Exhibition was held along with the TEKHNODREV Siberia Exhibition. It demonstrated the newest samples of furniture ranging from hi-tech to ecological furniture from wooden blocks. For the first time in the exhibition product company "Ivushka" of Irkutsk demonstrated modern furniture using acrylic paints. This furniture was delivered to the largest furniture hypermarkets of Krasnoyarsk right from the exhibition.

Over 7,500 people visited the exhibition in 4 days, out of which around 4,000 were experts in lumber industry from Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Lesosibirsk, Boguchan, Kodinsk, Minusinsk, Kansk, Achinsk and other towns. The visitors could see the functions of different woodworking machines, get a competent consultation from company representatives, as well as get familiarised with the latest developments in the sphere of harvesting equipment.

The 11th International Specialized Exhibition TEKHNODREW URAL. VOLGA was held on June 17-20, 2008 at the PERMSKAYA YARMARKA Exhibition Center with the support of Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Government of Perm Kray and Perm Administration.

The present project having been organized by the Exhibition Center PERMSKAYA YARMARKA and RESTECTM Exhibition Company, is one of the All-Russian Network of Woodworking Exhibitions and the leading regional forestry project in the European part of the Russian Federation.

Every year it turns to be a venue for efficient dialog among all the interested participants of the forestry complex: heads of enterprises, entrepreneurs, government officials and representatives of financial institutions, social organizations and Mass Media.

The primary objective of the TEKHNODREV network creation is to promote the process of forestry industry improvement and modernization, to extend regional relations, to create a common industrial community of forestry products suppliers and consumers.

The Exhibition display was showcased this year in two halls of the Exhibition Center and at the outdoor area. Over 120 forestry enterprises occupied 2000 square km: JARTEK, MINITEX URAL OOO, Valmet, CHETRA - Industrial Machinery JSC, KAMI-STANKOAGREGAT OOO, Log Max Inc., AUTOMATIC-FOREST OOO, NEGOCIANT-ENGINEERING OOO, Holding Company LIFTING MACHINES, UNIFLEX LTD. And many others. Companies from 7 countries (Austria, Germany, Italy, Finland, Poland, Netherlands and Russia) and 20 cities of the Russian Federation were presented at the Exhibition.

On 20 December, 2007 the session of organizers of the TEKHNODREV All-Russian network of woodworking exhibitions took place in St. Petersburg at RESTEC Exhibition Company during which the results of the year 2007 were summed up and tasks on the development of the TEKHNODREV network project in 2008 were discussed. The results of the previous exhibition projects confirmed the right choice of the area and determined great prospects for further development. The participants of the session discussed new variants of promotion of the network project in the branch market, tasks on the preparation of exhibition-conference events TEKHNODREV 2008.

The TEKHNODREV All-Russian network of woodworking exhibitions has existed for 3 years already covering international exhibition projects assisting in the development of logging, woodworking and furniture industries, equipment of Russian enterprises with modern machinery, equipment and tools. Over this period the project has turned to a large scale event, many enterprises and companies from all over Russia, as well as CIS and foreign countries, have become permanent participants of the network project. Organization of such projects encourages development of new technologies in the forest branch in regional markets.

On 14-15 December 2006 the session of regional exhibition operators on organization and holding of the TEKHNODREV 2007 federal network exhibition and congress took place in St. Petersburg in RESTEC Exhibition Company. Heads of exhibition companies participated in the work of the session:

The session participants discussed opportunities of mutual cooperation, general principles of the network project structure and signed joint projects agreements as well as protocols on participation conditions for 2007.

RESTEC Exhibition Company was the initiator of the All-Russian network of woodworking exhibitions TEKHNODREV. The primary objective of the TEKHNODREV network creation is to promote the process of forestry industry improvement and modernization, to extend regional relations, to create a common branch community of forestry products suppliers and consumers.

The topics of the exhibitions that are a part of the TEKHNODREV network, cover forestry, logging, woodworking, furniture and pulp and paper industries. Each project has its priority tendency in sessions' topics. They are organised basing on main development trends of each region's industry.

The venues of the network project TEKHNODREV are big regional centers of Russia, where there is economic background for successful forestry industry development (natural resources, production capacities, skilled personnel, infrastructure), active investment processes take place, leading regional exhibition companies operate on modern exhibition sites. Today regional aspect is the most important factor for forestry industry development in Russia. Russia, possessing a quarter of world forest resources, must take leading positions among world manufacturers of wooden and paper goods and this is possible through development of regional industries.

Each TEKHNODREV project includes a number of events providing its participants and visitors with maximum quantity of business contacts.

TEKHNODREV is a specialized exhibition, promotion program in leading and business mass media, congress and business program, which includes also a branch conference, round tables, seminars on topical issues of the region's forestry complex.

On 19-22 April the International Specialized Exhibition TEKHNODREV The Far East 2007 (earlier "Forest and woodworking") will take place in Khabarovsk. The project was organized together with Khabarovsk International Fair Company with the active support of the Ministry for Economic Development and Foreign Affairs of the Khabarovsk Kray and Government of Khabarovsk.

On 19-22 June the 10th International Specialized Exhibition TEKHNODREV Ural. Volga 2007 will start its work in Perm. Permskaya Yarmarka Exhibition Center, the leading exhibition operator of Ural and Volga Regions, is the co-organizer of the Exhibition. The Exhibition will be held under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and with the support of the Government of Perm and Permray.

On 11-14 September the International Specialized Exhibition TEKHNODREV Siberia 2007 (earlier "Forest. Woodworking: equipment and products") will be held in Krasnoyarsk at the International exhibition and business center "Siberia". Krasnoyarskaya Yarmarka Exhibition Company is the co-organiser of the Exhibition. The Exhibition will be held with the support of the Government of the Krasnoyark Kray.

On 19-22 September the International Specialized Exhibition TEKHNODREV South 2007 will be held in Rostov-on-Don in the new exhibition pavilions of VertolExpo Exhibition Center. VertolExpo Exhibition Center is the co-organizer of the Exhibition. The Exhibition will be held with the support of the Government of the Rostov Oblast and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Rostov Oblast.

On 9-12 October the 11th International Specialized Exhibition TEKHNODREV NW 2007 will be held in St. Petersburg within the framework of the 9th International Forest Forum, central industrial event of forestry complex. Over the period of its existence the Specialized Exhibition TEKHNODREV NW has gained international recognition and was awarded with the IUEF sign, a sign of high quality event.

TEKHNODREV MOSCOW International Specialized Exhibition will take place in Moscow, the central exhibition ground of Russia on November 23-26, 2006.
