St. Petersburg, April 8-10, 2008: the exhibition complex Lenexpo in Gavan'
housed a specialized exhibition-conference "Infocommunications in
energy" - information systems and telecommunicational solutions.
It was the first time that this exhibition was organized. It became a
constituent part of the 8th St. Petersburg International Energy Forum
that incorporated specialized exhibitions covering all range of services
in the sphere of energetics: "MIRR (Mineral and raw & fuel and
energy resources)", "OilGasExpo", "Oil refining and
oil chemistry, "MPExpo", Biofuel summit & Expo, "ATOMTEC",
"Trans-TEC-Expo". The exhibitions were conducted under the auspices
of Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation, Ministry of
Industry and Energy of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Agriculture
of the Russian Federation, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian
Federation, the Federation Council Committee on natural resources and
environment protection, National Bioenergetics Association (NBEA), National
Bioenergetics Union and other governmental and professional organizations,
which indicates that there is a need for such exhibitions in the industrial
center of Russia.
The exhibition was opened by the Secretary of the Public Chamber of the
RF, RAS Academician,President of the Russian Research Center "Kurchatovsky
Institute" E. P. Velikhov, Executive Director of "Global Energy"
Fund I. M. Lobovsky and RESTEC Chief Executive Officer S. N. Trofimov.
The exhibition provided a possibility to get acquainted with modern achievements
and perspective developments in infocommunication technology for the automation
of energetics functioning, to reveal the irreplaceable role of ICT in
business processes of the energy sector of our economy and to establish
direct links between producers and developers of ICT-solutions and experts
of energy complex.
The largest Russian and foreign companies of the North-West Region, developers
and suppliers of ICT-solutions and services, equipment and components
for industrial process automation participated in the exhibition. Among
them are Rostelecom JSC, ACG "Business System Development",
MVS Global Communications, GlobalTel, INFOSUITE and others.
The business program of the exhibition included the conference "Infocommunications
in energy", which was held on April 9. The important part of the
conference was a discussion on the role of infocommunications in the increase
of energy companies profitability, on new opportunities to implement modern
informational technology and communicational means in business management.
This indicates that currently efficient operation of energy companies
is no longer possible without an extensive use of infocommunicational
technology. Each of energy industry branches has the need for the informatization
of key aspects of its functioning, optimization of technology, research
and education processes.
The conference consisted of 8 lectures covering various aspects and trends
in ICT implementation in energetics. The lectures were given by Digital
Design, St. Petersburg – "The system of document workflow of
an energy company by the example of OGK-5"; SELTA SPA, Italy –
"Telecommunicational systems in energetics"; MVS Global Communications,
Moscow – "Examples of using terminal servers for satellite
mobile communication Inmarsat in oil and gas industry"; ACG "Business
System Development", Moscow – "Establishment of automated
management systems for energy companies", and others.
The exhibition and conference were attended by around 2500 experts: representatives
of federal and regional government, representatives of administrative
bodies, CEOs, senior engineers, heads of Automatic Process Control Systems
departments, engineers for automation from companies from various branches
of energy sector, representatives of sectoral unions and associations,
higher educational establishments, research organizations, financial bodies,
mass media, consulates, deputy corps.
Chief media sponsor of the event was the "Energetics and Industry
in Russia" newspaper. Informational support was provided by "PCWEEK",
"Cnews", "Information services Director", "REM",
"ISUP", "Fubix", "All Computer World of St. Petersburg",
"Energy Inspection Service and Energy Security", "Transducers
